2026 Summer Diplomacy & Leadership Institute
The 11th annual AIDL Summer Diplomacy & Leadership Institute is for high school students graduating in 2027 or 2028. It will focus on national and international issues and on the leadership skills and knowledge necessary to promote good governance and the peaceful resolution of conflicts. The Institute consists of two back-to-back workshops. The first workshop will be offered via Zoom 9 AM - 3:30 PM EDT, Monday through Friday (June 1 - 5), and is open to all eligible students anywhere in the world who are accepted. This workshop will involve numerous speakers on topics ranging from civil communication, conflict resolution, peacebuilding, diplomacy, community building, and several international issues. It will attempt to build connections between students in different parts of the world and promote joint community projects between schools. Students successfully completing this workshop will receive a Certificate of Participation upon request. The second workshop will be in person in Atlanta, Georgia, USA at the Emory University Center for Ethics 9 AM - 3 PM, Monday through Friday (June 8 - 12). It will focus on building upon the information learned in the virtual week, culminating in a US National Security Council simulation. The virtual workshop is mandatory for those wanting to participate in the second week at Emory. Students who are not within driving distance of Emory and thus cannot attend the in person week, are allowed to participate in the virtual week if selected. Students who successfully complete both workshops will be considered part of the 11th Cohort and receive a T-Shirt and Certificate. Due to the huge number of requests last year, there is the possibility of adding another stand-alone one week virtual workshop in July. The Institute and workshops are free to those who are selected, but the selection process is highly competitive. Not all applicants will be accepted. Preference goes to students who have held leadership positions, who have participated in Model UNs or similar events, or who have taken Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate or other high level courses. To request an application, click on the red button below and complete the Google form. This is not the actual application. The actual application will only be sent to those who have requested it via the Google form.

The acceptance process involves completing the application when it is received, returning it promptly to AIDL, and then scheduling a 20 minute Zoom interview. We will begin sending out applications in March and hope to send emails by the end of April to everyone accepted for the program. Choose one of the following:
