2024 Summer Diplomacy & Leadership Institute

The 9th Summer Diplomacy & Leadership Institute will be split into a virtual component, followed by a return to in-person on the Emory University campus (which requires daily transportation to Emory).  This free Institute will be Monday - Friday over a two week period.  The first week (June 3-7) will be virtual using Zoom and will involve numerous speakers on topics ranging from civil communication, conflict resolution, peacebuilding, diplomacy, the US Foreign Service, and several international issues.  It will attempt to build connections between students in different states & countries and promote joint community projects between schools.  The second week (June 10-14) will be in-person on the Emory University campus and focus on building upon the information learned in the virtual week, culminating in a US National Security Council simulation.  The times for both weeks will be from 9:00 AM EDT (Atlanta, USA time) to 3:00 PM EDT.
The Institute is only for rising juniors (Class of 2026) and rising seniors (Class of 2025) in high school.  Applications are required for this workshop. Students in the metro area who are accepted into the workshop will be expected to participate both weeks and will be considered members of the 9th Cohort.  Students who are not within driving distance of Emory University can participate in the first week online and will have the benefit of hearing many great speakers and making connections with students from multiple states.  Students who can only participate virtually for the first week will receive a Certificate of Participation upon successful completion of that week. Students who are able to participate both weeks will be considered to be members of the 9th Cohort.  Click on the button in red below to find out more information and to request an application, which will be available March 1.
